STAFFING

We believe that competent, well trained staff are fundamental to achieving good quality care for service users.
We are proud of our team of staff at Briarcroft. Each member has been chosen by us for their individual skills, qualifications and personality. All staff have a criminal records bureau (CRB) check to ensure they can be safely left to care for vulnerable people.
The proprietors ensure that our staff training and development programme meets National Training Organisation workforce training targets, and ensures staff fulfil the aims of the home and meet the changing needs of the residents.
Many staff have an National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or are working towards this. We pride ourselves in the amount of ongoing training we carry out with the staff using a variety of professional bodies both formal and in house.
This training includes subjects such as Dementia Awareness, first aid, infection control, moving and handling, basic food and hygiene and fire safety to name but a few. Staff also receive continuous supervision while undergoing constant work practice assessment.
Our staffing levels are exceptional as they are well above the levels recommended by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
High staffing levels and specialist training in caring for people with dementia ensures that residents needs are met and there is time for social activities including dancing, sing a longs, gentle exercises, and visits out to local shops, the sea front and restaurants.
We employ excellent cleaners who do their best to ensure the home is kept clean and odour free and cooks who make freshly cooked mouth watering meals and cakes. This leaves the care team free to concentrate on the needs of the residents.
A mix of male and female staff with a good range of ages allows for residents with different expectations to feel comfortable with their chosen carer. The key worker system is operated with this in mind.
