There are very few rules at Briarcroft. Those that do exist are due to legal responsibilities such as risk assessments, fire regulations, environmental health, health and safety and others which make a safe environment.
We believe in freedom of movement and understand the needs of some residents who may wander. With this in mind we are a secure home with electro-magnetic keypad controls at the main and side doors. This system prevents vulnerable residents from leaving the building without a suitable escort. The system meets regulatory requirements regarding fire escape as it is linked to the fire alarm system and the doors will unlock when the fire alarm system is activated. When Resident’s are in their bedroom a motion sensor and personal nurse call system allows staff to monitor and assist Resident’s day and night.

It is the policy of Briarcroft, that we do not allow smoking in the home, however, it is allowed outside.
A Partial Summary Of The Safety Aspects We Provide:
Care Assistance 24 hours per day
Specialized staff training such as Dementia Awareness, Abuse and others
Required Fire Alarm system testing, inspection and necessary maintenance
Required Passenger Lift inspection and necessary maintenance
Nurse call system with door and interior motion detection sensor
Hoist inspection, weight test and necessary maintenance
Radiator covers on all radiators to prevent burning in case of a fall against a hot surface
Window safety catches restricting window openings to prevent falls from a height
Hot tap blending valves on all hot water outlets where residents have access to prevent the risk of scalding
Required Legionella and E. Coli laboratory water tests
Push taps on all wash basins to reduce the risk of flooding
5 Year fixed electrical safety inspection and necessary maintenance throughout
Annual portable appliance testing (PAT) on all small appliances
Restricted access by means of push button keyless locks to areas identified by on going risk assessments as those unsuitable to the vulnerable. Areas such as the boiler room, kitchen (when not supervised) are examples
Required boiler and gas inspection and necessary maintenance
